I can't believe it's that time already, but it is!

First off, thank you so much for writing for me. Whatever you come up with will be VERY appreciated, and I'm sure it'll be wonderful.

General Likes:
- kayfabe and non-kayfabe fic are equally excellent
- anything having to do with UpUpDownDown and those shenanigans is SO FUN
- all AUs are excellent but I'm more amenable to fantastic AUs (vampires, superheroes, magic) than mundane AUs (coffeeshop, high school, etc)
- I am demonstrably super-weak for soulmate AUs.
- bantering, arguments, and multilingual characters are fun.
- epistolary fic is amazing, especially if you want to get into multimedia.
- team!piles. platonic, desperate-for-comforting-contact team!piles or post-coital not-platonic team!piles, all good.
- hurt/comfort is my jam, but I prefer it more focused on the comfort.

I'd love anything with them; their first meeting on the indy scene, forming their team, how and why they joined up with Adam in NXT, how they feel about the breakup, Kyle navigating his singles' career without Bobby, maybe the conversation of if Bobby should return from injury. Also very much here for Bobby really only accepting certain things (care, advice, bluntness) from Kyle.
- How's Adam negotiating this latest heel turn and who is he running to for comfort? Or, alternately, does he think he can do it all on his own now?

- The Old Guard AU. Man, give me unexpectedly!immortal Era boys in any combination you like. Who got resurrected first? Who's the baby immortal? Bobby and Kyle as Nicky and Joe y/y/YES? - Werewolf AU please and thank you. They're all very good boys who have an excellent pack dynamic, and I'm here for any and all explorations of that.

- Celebratory belt sex for Sami's long-awaited IC title win(s). It's been so long since Sami or Kevin have had a title, how do they make it special?
- Kevin mentoring Sami (or anyone else!) in the fine art of Being a Dad. Everything from changing diapers to having "the talk" to dealing with missing kid-related events, I really just love how a lot of the new dads have decided that Kevin is their guru.
- Sami's conspiracy-theorist hair and beard seem to be a source of frustration for Kevin (and many fans). Give him/us some catharsis and have Kevin shave him, or have Sami come home after getting his hair cut into short curls again.
- What If Sami and Kevin either never signed with WWE, or never re-signed? Are they All Elite? Does Sami take Kevin on his first tour of Japan? Go nuts, y'all.

- Heel!Bayley is a gift from the wrestling gods. Go in on what the process has been like for her, how she's been dealing with it, who she's been leaning on for advice or help. Has it changed her out of kayfabe? Does she feel more confident and does that extend to relationships?
- Seriously, you guys, what the hell happened with Finn's Demon? Is he telling the truth about it being a young man's way of harnessing negative emotion, or did Bray put the whammy on him, or is Balor still in there? What does he think about his human meddling with the Era and Kross?
- Fantasy book me a heel!Bayley/Balor team and/or faction, it would be so fun. Arch-nemeses Johnny and Candice or Kross and Scarlett? Does Bayley make an NXT return?

This is Justin and Iris Crowe, from the long-dead and unfairly-canceled Dust Bowl supernatural mindfuck show of my HEART, Carnivale. He's a preacher from the Father Coughlin school of manipulation and demagoguery, and that's before he finds out he's the Antichrist. He has hubris up to his ears, no brakes to speak of, and a thing for his big sister. She's a Church Lady on acid, and once torched a church full of orphans to break her brother's heart. They're hideously co-dependent, and the picture is of the moment when Iris is 100% convinced he's going to hand her over to the police for the church fire. (Spoiler: he doesn't, but he does make sure she suffers.) The quote is from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, referencing kissing and penance, and I love them unreasonably.

This is a Neil Gaiman quote, from The Sandman. I first read Sandman as a very impressionable high schooler, and the Endless just fascinated me so much. While I love Death, Dream, and Delirium the most, I think Desire's introduction is one of the best. Desire being genderfluid and very cruel is perfect characterization. caitirin_icons did a bunch of Gaiman quote icons ages ago, and this one caught my eye right away.

This is Evelyn Poole (on the right) and Malcolm Murray (on the bed) from the recently-deceased Victorian-horror show Penny Dreadful. And uh, if you read that paragraph about Justin/Iris, you can ABSOLUTELY spot why I love Evey/Malcolm. Evelyn is my most precious batshit-evil witchqueen, who is the right hand woman of actualfax Satan. She takes Erzebet Bathory-style baths, giggles like a teenage girl, and I would give several limbs for her wardrobe. Malcolm is a masterfully-deconstructed Great White Hunter, the father of Mina Murray (yes, from Dracula), and Evelyn's target to manipulate Malcolm's adopted daughter into joining the dark side. She catches a single feeling for him, but also leaves him to his death in a hallucinatory prison. The shot is of their morning-after, and the caption "cut his hair myself one night" is from Regina Spektor's "Samson" (which is also an apropos parallel for them, both in the sense of a woman manipulating a man's power from him and a literal haircut).

Thank you so much for writing for me! It's my first year in this exchange (but definitely not in fandom, lol), and I'm really looking forward to what you come up with. As a recipient, I am so psyched for anything, so you can feel free to browse the prompts or write anything your heart desires. I really only have a few hard and fast no's, which are as follows:

Do Not Want: rape or any sort of explicitly non-consensual sexual contact (all potentially dubcon prompts will be labeled, description of aftermath is okay but no actual depiction); gore or explicit violence, description of injuries; OOC characters or (in the case of wrestling) wallet names, all-whump-all-the-time (gimme some comfort please).

In general, I am really *always* here for character studies. If one of the characters listed strikes you, I'd love any examination of a rough patch in their life. How they may or may not rely on others, coping mechanisms, and emotional reactions. I love stories about found-family (especially in wrestling), and about unconventional biological families (very apropos for the Alvarez and Shelby clans). Relationship studies, whether romantic or platonic or familial, are always gorgeous. ... I've just been hit Very Hard by real life. I got a full-time job in my field in my hometown and was *supposed* to move out in June. Then they cut my hours entirely and I was funemployed for a month, but August-September had three coworkers leave for greener pastures, giving me more job security. So I moved out in October, to South Philly. I now live in a Big Queer House with two of my best friends in the world, which has been overall amazing.

(I also went to Evolution. HOLY WRESTLING NIRVANA, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND TRANSCENDENT.)

To kickstart my DW habits, let's do a variation on Talky December. I'll take the first ten prompts: give me either a specific topic ("what's your favorite thing about X?") or a general topic ("what tv are you watching?"). Hey guys. I’m sorry to do this, but things are getting kind of tough for me right now.

Most of you all know I’m an ESL teacher in New York, which is a profession that is fairly unstable. If you’re lucky enough to land a job with a private school, like I have been, your hours and paycheck are subject to the whims of the season. January to April is fairly dead, and every year, I’m usually able to save up over the holidays to get me through the dead time. I’ve also been fortunate enough, in the past, to have very steady hours that weren’t cut.

This year is very different, and that’s due to enrollment plummeting. Why? Our Cheeto-in-Chief’s new immigration policies and ban on Muslim immigration.

My school relies on students enrolling, getting short or long term visas, and generally wanting to spend time here in the US. But now, we’ve got students (Yemeni, Syrian, and Turkish, mostly) who are being denied visas or denied entry. We’ve got students from other countries (Japan, Korea, Taiwan) that are scared as hell to come here, so they’re cancelling their courses. Students that are already here are picking up and going home. Enrollment’s already dropped by 20%, compared to this time last year. My school isn’t the only one affected, and I’m not the only one with hours cut, but it’s really rough on me right now. I’ve gone from 38+ hours a week to only 20, and that’s a huge pay cut.

The good news is, I’ve had two interviews at another, busier, school, and I strongly suspect I’ll be hired. However, it’ll be at least a week before I start, and 2-3 weeks before I see any of that income. I’ve paid my rent, utilities, student loans, and credit card bill for March, but my phone bill and transportation costs are coming up, and I’m looking at $65 in my checking account for the next two weeks.

Festivid Recs!

Again, I never seem to manage to participate in Festivids, but I adore watching them every year. This year's crop were *particularly* wonderful, I feel, and these are my recommended viewing:

Rock this Musictown
(Empire Records, "We Built This City"/"We're Not Gonna Take It" from Rock of Ages. This is the little 90's movie of my heart, something I've watched every year with friends both good and bad since I was 15 years old. The vidder captures the pure energy and friendship from the movie, and I particularly love, as ever, AJ cajoling Deb to dance in the store, and Gina living her rockstar dreams.)

Family Affair
(Fresh Off the Boat, "A Family Affair" by Mary J. Blige. JESSICA!! <333333 Oh man, this was such a fun look into one of my favorite characters. I really love all the hilarious clips (the onion! Jessica Claus! punching Mitch!) and how you really get the sense of how much heart the show has, under the goofiness.)

Independent Women
(Hamilton, "Independent Woman Pt. 2" by Destiny's Child. I am so happy that the Schuyler Sisters are starting to be vidded to Destiny's Child, now that we have a decent amount of footage. LADIES. FABULOUS SCHUYLER SISTERS. SO PERFECT!)

Lose Yourself
(Hamilton, "Lose Yourself (Demo)" by Eminem. Love the use of the demo version for this vid. Besides being a bit more lyrically apt for Hamilton, it subverts the expectation I (and others) likely have; the album version is super-famous, and were it the version chosen, there would be a sense of "I know this story". Very surprising and perfectly executed.)

Solidarity Forever
(Pride 2014, "Battle Hymn of the Republic" by Judy Garland. Jesus, this made me cry like a small child. Pride in and of itself is a beautiful movie that also makes me cry, but when you repurpose Mark's activism as his tribute to another gay pioneer, and then bring in the sheer friendship and support and love that these two different families have for each other, it's off the chain. Particular love for Gethin's emotional arc being tied to the explicitly religious verse.)

Black Out Days
(A Streetcar Named Desire - 2014 Young Vic production, "Black Out Days" by Phantogram. So, I had no idea that there was an official version filmed - I knew NTL did it, but I didn't know they'd released it - and holy Mary and all her wacky nephews, GILLIAN ANDERSON. This is not a pretty version of Streetcar - not that there usually are - it's particularly vicious and stark. The vidder's use of color, the staging, the intimacy the camera creates, really is a gut-punch, as is the car-crash factor of what you know is coming for Blanche.)
